Using the voipfone 166 Cold Caller service with Siemens C475

#1
Hello,

Just got an email this morning about the new cold caller service:
Sick of Cold Callers?

We have a cure.

Next time you get a double glazing call and you need to find a way out of it, just say, “one moment sir, I have another call”, put them on hold, dial 166 and hit your transfer button.

After that, they are unlikely to leave your number on their list.
It’s also a free call.

Try it yourself - just dial 166 from your Voipfone.
However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure it on my handset. We use the Siemens C475 handsets which don't have a simple "hold" button. Hope someone here can help me as I am fed up of cold callers! (I am already registered with TPS)

TIA

Sam

The Siemens C475 IP phones do actually have the hold feature. When you are on the phone if you press Ext Call, which is shown at the bottom left hand side on the screen, this will place the caller on hold and allow you to dial the number you want to transfer to (166). When you have connected to the second call you then need to press options and then call transfer. And that is it :)

Hope this helps

Hi,

I get this far ok (I have to go through to options to find the ext call option.
When you have connected to the second call you then need to press options and then call transfer. And that is it :)
Not sure if the call connects here, but when I go to options there's no call transfer option.

Any ideas?

It depends on the settings applied and firmware you have installed.

Is it a phone you purchased from Voipfone?

Another option to send the call is to press the # key twice quickly while in a call. You should then hear a prompt asking you to enter the number you want to transfer to. Dialing 166 should do it.

Unfortunately the Siemens phones default settings are generally not right for our service so they don't work so easily.

That will explain why you can't see the transfer option. You can't transfer a call if it's come in on the landline, the transfer option only works via the VoIP service.
