Porting Question

#1
I have a geographical number [0207] that I would like to port. Lets assume that porting the number is not an issue for Voipfone.

2 questions:

1. I have an account with you with an 056xx number. When the new number is ported, do you [voipfone] create a completely new account for me or will the ported number feature in my current control panel. Or indeed, can I substitute my ported number and cancel my 056x number.

2. I am using an ATA [PAP2T]. Presumably for both lines/numbers to be active, I would have to set up line1 and line2 in my PAP2 ie I could not get both numbers ringing on the same phone configuring only 1 line in the PAP2T.

Apologies, I know what questions to ask but may have gone about asking them in a disjointed way.

Cheers

The ported number will be activated on the account number you supply on the porting form. The number will work along side your existing numbers.

It will work as is now, you can use the 056 and ported number both on your PAP2

Many thanks for your reply.

May I please ask one final and quick question

So for total clarity, if I have one account with voipfone and port say 5 numbers into that account then subject to hardware limitations [at my end], I can connect to as many numbers in my account as I wish and leave the unused numbers in parked mode.

Have I understood that correctly?

Many thanks again

You can have as many numbers on your account as you like. But I'm not sure what you mean by 'parked'. If anyone calls them they will ring your phone and you will be charged £1.99 pm for each.

By parked I mean not configured in my PAP2T.

Or are you saying that if I have a total of 6 numbers in my account [my voipfone 056 and 5 ported numbers] and configure only one [the 056 number] in my PAP2T and ring any of the ported number then my ATA will ring.

Won't each number in my account, whether ported or not, have to be configured in suitable hardware ie ATA for those numbers to work.

Apologies for my being particularly obtuse.

Cheers

It's your Voipfone account that is configured in your PAP, not your numbers.

Any numbers on your account will be active.
