Cisco 7970G

#1
Ok, for those of you who have bought a 7970G and hope to get it working on voipfone.co.uk don't hold your breath. I've spent months trying to get it working with various firmware versions but for some reason it won't connect.

Since signing up for another provider, the phone sadly connects first time. This is nothing to do with my setup as the same issue is found by another (far more experienced) Cisco 7970G user on different hardware. We've both got the phone setup as a DMZ and as soon as we change the settings to the alternative provider it connects first time.

It's a real shame we've not managed to get it working as voipfone.co.uk IMHO is still the best provider out there .

Yep, I've also a Cisco account so have access to all the firmware, the phone is currently loaded with SIP version 8.3.3.

The only version that came even close was 8.0.2 but that resulted in one-way audio.

I don't know if you support SCCP or not but I've not tried the SCCP route.

Thanks acoolwelshbloke however from what I can gather there are a few massive differences between the 7960 and 7970 -one of the major ones is that the 7960 allows SIP connectivity natively (and so is supported in doing so by Cisco) however the7970 doesn't and has to be hacked.

One of the guys I had testing voipfone has a 7960 and 7970 -the 7960 works fine, the 7970 doesn't (even with the same settings...)

Very interested in hearing anyone who has got the 7970 working.
