Speedtouch 780WL VoIP de-registering issue

#1
Hi

I have voipfone running with a DECT phone into the speedtouch 780WL with the latest BE firmware

At least once to twice a day the DECT phone de-registers & I have to go into the box & manually register the phone to getting it working again

Anyone eles had this issue with the speedtouch 780WL VoIP ports?

I'm almost certain that it is the router that is the issue as I have a SIP phone running on the same connection no problems

I thinking of buying an adapter, but don't want to do this until I have confirmed that others have had the same issue

Thanks in advance

Dave

Yes there are two issues with the Be box that make them do this, one is they are sent out with old firmware; please check for new firmware.

This can solve the problem, otherwise we'll have to talk you through the next trick.

Is the router hot?

Hi

I've been using the lastest BE firmware for the BEBOX & this is when the voip ports de-registers
BEBOX firmware version (6.1.4.3) (this firmware is only for the BEBOX)

I changed the firmware last night to the Speedtouch version 6.2.17.5 all seams to be running fine, the only issue that I have is that the version 6.2.17.5 Firmware will only enable Annex A

http://www.thomson-broadband.co.uk/code ... ductID=528

I have a BE pro connection which uses Annex M (2.5M up)
so at the moment I'm getting 1.3 upload

So if I can work out a way to enable annex M on the version 6.2.17.5 firmware looks like this hopefully resolves the issue

BTW The router doesn't get hot

Thanks again

Dave

Ok. The second issue we often have with the Speedtouch is its use of SIP ALG which we can fix if necessary.

Let us know how you get on - the Be product is obviously very interesting for VoIP use.

Could I ask what is "SIP ALG"?

SIP ALG stands for Session Initiation Protocol Application Layer Gateway :D

It's above my paygrade to describe what it does but it's invloved with firewall management of SIP. If you are experiencing inbound or outbound call problems on the Speedtouch they are often cured by turning it off.

Here's how to do it:

Firstly you need to change the password from the default one - login to the web interface (You can access it here http://192.168.1.254) with username 'Administrator' and no password.

Click on [ Administrator ] at the top left - you can then change the password in the pop-up window. Save this change (Please note you cannot get into the web interface of the Speedtouch once it has a password using 'Internet Explorer' - You'll need to use another browser)

Next open a Command Prompt window, e.g:
Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> Command Prompt

At the prompt, type 'telnet' followed by the ip address of the SpeedTouch (default is 192.168.1.254).

Login using Administrator and the password you set before.

and then type:

:connection unbind application=SIP port=5060

and then type:

:saveall

Thanks for the info

I've been using the newer speedtouch FW now for a couple of days no issues at all, so it looks like the BE firmware needs updating as the speedtouch firmware only enables Annex A & I need Annex M

Thanks again for you assistance
