Cisco IP Phone Series 7940 / Help needed / FAO Henry

Hi There,

I have recently bought 2 Cisco 7940G IP Phones.

To be honest I am not that technically minded as far as VOIP is concerned (I just thought it would Plug and play, rather silly of me) :oops:

I have a Sitecom (4 port) cable router which I am using with my ISP Virgin Media the phones are connected via ethernet cables to the router

The current configuration details of the phone are as follows:-

Hi Grant,

Have you seen the link at the top of this forum? "Config Details for Cisco 7940/7960"

I've copied up some working configs for the 7940 / 7960, but these will only work with the later versions of SIP firmware for your phone.

It's a bit of a pain upgrading your phone to the latest version of SIP, but it's not that hard (just don't use notepad). I've listed some useful links at the bottom of the above post which I used

Let me know how you get on, it's worth it in the end as the Cisco 7940 is a great phone especially on long work conference call, the hands free is great!
