X-Lite - new version 3.0

#1
I see CounterPath have launched a new version of X-Lite now supporting video. I think it looks much better than the old version and the phone book looks much better. (Why it may even tempt we back from SJphone that I strongly support...all is not lost, however, I believe SJphone is launching a video support version as well.)

Will Voipfone be now recommending this version and tweaking their support wizard to configer this version?

I downloaded and set up the new X-Lite 3.0 last night. I must say I'm quite impressed. Much easier to configure than version 2 and phone book is a vast improvement. Also video support...now if only I has a camera!

I may have to switch my allegiance from SJphome back to X-Lite

Looks interesting, I see it's enabled DND and MWI in the free version too. Let us know how you get on.

Following you all the way SJphone and back to X-lite new version and agree it looks great. Now if I could actually make it register I'd be more constructive.

 Plea for help in setting up account for voipfone.
What is my Authorisation user name and presumably Send Outbound via target domain is ok or do I use proxy ?
Do I accept the Dialing Plan as is.

Thanks

Hello - glad you like it !

I added my account number in "Authorisation user name" (same as "User name") but reading the manual this may not be necessary but why not try it?

In the Domail Proxy section, tick the check box, add Address "voipfone.co.uk" and select the "proxy" button.

I left dialling plan as it was - no idea what it means!!!

That's all I did - connected perfectely.

I've turned off PC firewalls, anti virus, reinstalled and still get timed out with Registration error 408.

I sse on the Counterpath web site others are struggling too and reverting back to 2.0.

Could it be my router requiring more ports open?

The old xlite needed to be installed with the firewall not just turned off but disabled so that it can't restart when you reboot the PC. You then have to reboot, check that the firewall hasn't re-started, then install it. (Uninstall the old one first)

I don't have any ports open on my router and Windows Firewall on.

I think 408 is a time out error. In the "Advanced" tab of the SIP account set up I have these settings -

3600, 20 and 1800.

Advanced options are both ticked.

Another idea,

Try using "nat.voipfone.co.uk:5065" in outbound proxy box instead of just "voipfone.co.uk"

Thanks but

Thanks but no change it takes a long time initialising, longer time discovering network then too long registering.

I have a problem with SJPhone where it only works after I have logged into my work web folder but that's another thread. I just get a constant drrrr sound rather than dial tone.

I have an Addon GWAR3000 which is pretty neat and have just checked their site to see if they have a firmware update to which the answer is no!

Slight change though I now have an error 401 - unauthorised. I have a suspicion its as Support says becasue I can't find a way to stop Kerio Pesonal Firewall from laoding. I tried stopping the services and reinstalling but need to find where it is being started. Would it be a Registry setting because its not in the startup group?

Uninstalled my personal firewall now relying on the Windows one and my router.

Still not registering though with 408 Request Timeout. Can anyone interpret the debug log or do I send it to Counterpath?

Back to SJphone which is now behaving itself without selecting DirectX 8.1 on the audio setup but gives an error about proxy when Windows firewall is on even though it is an exception programme. Ho hum!

I'm trying again with later version and have got it fired up, registering and calling out but when I try and call myself I just get straight through to my Voicemail.

Anyone have ideas what is my problem this time. The SJPhone is working fine when it registers and I can receive calls.
