Hi.. I'm looking for some advice & guidance
I've been using a home land based sip phone successfully for a number of years. Occasionally I make calls with a softphone (x-lite) while on the move with my laptop via wifi. I am now looking to set up my mobile phone to use the sip account via wifi too.
My question is: Which of these will take priority when there is an incoming call? For example, if my home based handset is switched on and is registered, and I am in another country using my mobile/wifi also registered? A quick home test shows if I call my sip number with both the home hardware phone and mobile phone 'active', only the home phone rings..
If I plan to be away or abroad and use the mobile (or on my laptop on any wifi), do I need to 'switch off' the home handset and de-register it?
I'm a little confused as I don't really understand which device takes preference when a call comes in, and which one will ring etc..
Many thanks if anyone can help..

You should only have one device online at one time unless you use our PBX extensions. If you have multiple devices online at once without extensions then it will be random as to which phone rings when a call comes in. There will also be issues with phones continuing to ring after the call has hung up.
You can either do as you mention and switch off devices to ensure only one is online or you can have a PBX extension for each phone.

Hello
I use SIP Softphone on my iPhone and am planning on getting a desk phone.
I'm the only person using the incoming number but am i still better off buying 2 extensions - one for the desk phone the other for the iPhone?
Am keen to avoid the issue of both ringing at the same time when they are both logged on (something that plagues me with Skype) or is there another way?
Thanks,
Andrew
