 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
My SPA 942 has the MWI on all the time.
It also oscillates the dial tone.
I have no voicemails - I have checked.
I have also cleaned out the old voicemail.
The MWI seems very unreliable. This happens many times.

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Hello,
I have a CISCO 7940 and the MWI appears to be on all the time, even though I dont have any message. I have rebooted the phone and cleared all my message from my mail box; any ideas?
Thanks,

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Hi Andy,
With my 7940 I reloaded the firmware and it resolved the problem. I think it was actually a newer firmware. Could you try this with yours or even a factory reset ? Has it been a problem before ?

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Hi thanks,
Actually I have had this before and a power recycle helped it. Not this time. I will take your advice and tinker with the firmware. I guess there are instructions here - will take a look.
Thanks for the quick response.
Andy.

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Hmm, updated the firmware to 5.1.8 - no luck guys. I have had a good run around my voicemail box too and there are definitely no messages waiting. Any ideas at all? I may have to resort to a factory reset.

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Are you set up on a PBX setup also with Voipfone? I had another problem with another phone where i could also dial 1572 as well as 1571 for messages and had to ensure both were cleared?

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Guys, fixed it - thanks for your help. In the end I went into the browser-based config wizard and set the 'message waiting' flag to 'no' under EXT1\Call Feature Settings - I have yet to find whether this is off permanently now but at least it's off!

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
I can confirm that the message light is on all the time on my Cisco SPA IP phone. To clear it you need to leave yourself a message then delete the message. This seems to send a signal to remove the message light. Its then ok.. until you reboot the phone after which the message light comes back on again. So to sum up I think there must be an issue with config at voipfone somewhere.

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
Same for me here, SPA941's with a permanently lit MWI. On PBX but no messages in any extension mailboxes. I too have resorted to switching the MWI off until I can resolve

 Re: Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
I'm having a problem with it permanently on as well. Is this a Voipfone problem or a bug with the phone?
Very annoying.
