Post Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
If you have a device that supports it, you can tell that you have a message waiting from your phone or
adapter. This will either be a flashing light (telephones) or stuttered dial tone (adapters and telephones) or
sometimes an annoying occasional ring (adapters) – see below.

Check your manual to see how to switch this function off and on and how to receive the message.

You may need to have the latest firmware installed – please check the manufacturer’s web site.

(Some adapters do a regular, partial ring when they have a message waiting. To turn this off you may need
to consult your manual. For Sipura’s, you will find it under 'User 1, ‘Ring Settings’. Change any number in
the ‘VMWI ring splash length’ box to 0.)

I have a Sipura SPA941 registered with an extension at Voipfone.
The message waiting light and icon are on all of the time, regardless of whether Voipfone have any messages for me.

What is wrong ?

Hmm - looks like we have a problem with MWI; I'll raise a ticket.

I use a PAP2 with two different DECT phones. Both of which always display an envelope (message waiting?) icon on their screens.

Hi,

I've a Cisco 7940, MWI was working fine, but I now see nothing (no light) if I leave a test message for myself.

My mobile receives a txt message telling me I've a new message with no problem via the Voiphone service

Hi,

I'm having a similar problem this morning - the MWI is on, even though I don't have any new messages (Linksys SPA941). It's been doing the opposite for the last few weeks - it was never on, even when I had a message.

Yes, so is mine - looks like the night shift decided to clear their in-tray :-)

yes bizzarely, so did i.

on my phone i have one line which is for a single extension, and another which is part of a call group.

the MWI works ok for the single / DDI, but not for the call group line. I have the voicemail box configured as 1571 and 1572 respectively. both configs look identical however, so i don't understand why this isnt working

can someone look in to this.

Well, I wish they'd hurry up and get to me! It's still happening here! I can't delete my old messages either, either via the phone or my account - any idea why that's happening?

Edit: Okay, never mind, first incoming call of the morning, and it's cleared! Still can't delete my old messages though!

It may take a day or so to settle down - rebooting may help

Post MWI on Linksys PAP2T
Hi

I've just received my new Linksys PAP2T. Very impressed with it working out of the box!

Does the Message Waiting Indicator work with Voipfone? The manual says, "It [the green phone LED] flashes quickly when the phone is in use and slowly when you have a message waiting."

I've upgraded the firmware to 5.1.3-LS.

Any help and advice appreciated.

cheers

Peter

Yes, you will hear a dial tone change, and may see a message indicator on the phone you have attached.

This appears to be working properly on my Sipura SPA941 now.
Many thanks.

Now I'd love to have a way to alter the voicemail activation delay : )

Sorry to say, I was a bit premature there ....
The phone got restarted again and now I have MWI light on permanently again, with no messages in the in box.

And - by the way...

The Snom phones message light stays illuminated (static) when you have one or missed calls. Once you've viewed the calls or if you press the 'cross key' it will clear the light.

The light will flash when you have a message waiting for you.

If you leave another message on the mailbox, then clear it again - the signal should be re-sent to disable the flashing light
