I have successfully installed the Voipfone standard tapi driver on 5 pcs, and it works in both ACT and Sage. On to the 6th pc, it installs without a problem, fill in the three registration boxes and complete the installation. But the Voipfone driver won't show in any of the lists in ACT, Sage or Control Panel/Phones and Modems.

The pcs are essentially identical, all running XP Pro SP2. Only user has admin rights.

I have tried again, and I have rebooted, it just doesn't show.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

That explains why I can' t see the Tapi on my Sony Vaio Windows XP Pro SP4 machine.

I will install it onto my Tower machine (Windows Pro XP SP3) and see if there is any more luck.

Can anyone explain why this could be happening?

Ok, I did discover what was causing my problem. For some reason this pc came with the recovery partition on drive C, and the OS on drive D. The tapi driver will only install on drive C. However you can copy the file that is installed onto the OS drive and then it works.

That's useful info, thanks - I've updated the TAPI instructions

If you find a workaround I'll post that too

The file is called vftapi.tsp and it should be in your windows/system32 folder. Simply copy it from the C drive where it was installed, to the running OS drive. I then continued with the application configuration as with other pcs.

I presume if the C drive is not your OS drive or a recovery drive then the installation will fail. You will have to find another pc to install to and copy the file from there.
