I seem to have 2 seperate Asterisk servers losing registration on the new Sip IP address provided by VoipFone.
Both servers are on different ADSL lines. One is on NAT the other is on static IP with no NAT.
The one server has 2 VoipFone accounts registered one on the old voipfone.co.uk and the other on the new Ip address.
The account registered on the old voipfone.co.uk seems to be fine while those registered on the new IP both lose registration with a status of Request Sent.
Sometimes I can get the line to re-register by simply dialing 123 and making an outgoing call to VoipFone. Other times it does not solve the problem.
Is this part of the ongoing Saga of Updates & Upgrades or is it just me having all the registration problems.
Somehow I dont think it's only me because many people seem to be complaining about the same thing...
PLEASE INSTITUTE AIX!!!!!!!!!!!!

The new ip is for the BETA network and this network is not officially live yet and is for testing purposes only

Because this network is still in beta we will perform maintenance and tests without notice so you may notice that it will go down from time to time

Is there no news on a reliable network that doesnt fall over several times a day with SIP regestration on my Asterisk server?
I thought migration to the new stable network was to have started taking place from the 8th April?
Is this still happening or is the reliable-stable-useable network still in BETA?

The existing Voipfone network is reliable but it has manual failover if a connectivity provider has a problem. The new network (amongst other things) provides auto failover if that happens.

Losing SIP registration that regularly is unlikely to be due to us tinkering with the Beta network. I suggest you point it at the main network and we'll play with configurations - we have other asterisk users with no problems.

Hi Thanks for the reply.
I currently have 2 completely seperate Asterisk servers running on the main Voipfone network not the Beta IP.
The lose registration several times a day every day.
They are on completely seperate ADSL lines on completely seperate networks.
One is running as NAT the other has open public IP's.
I really dont know what to say, ... it can't possible be coincidence could it?
I think the work you guys are doing at VoipFone is wonderful....the features and services you offer are way ahead of the competition.
I just wish I could stay registered to your network long enough to enjoy it. Crying or Very sad

Given that we have Asterisk users that have no problem keeping a connection and you have been able to eliminate the ISP and network issues it looks like we're down to a configuration problem at your end. I assume you have seen the info here?

Thanks..
Yes I have seen your Asterisk config recommendation.
Mine is identical to what you state there and it still loses registration Crying or Very sad

Are there any other Asterisk users who dont have registration problems who would be kind enough to forward me a copy of your configs for your VoipFone Sip configuration?

Cheers

Well strange thing is that the entire weekend both Asterisk servers were registered without losing registration once!
Come Monday and the servers both lose registration...
Somehow I find it hard to believe it is something on my side!
Please will someone actually admit that the tinkering on the live network actually is affecting the Paying Customers registrations!
Or actually come up with some or other solution!

We have not been tinkering with the network at all over the weekend nor are we tinkering today.

We will always notify you in advance of any work that we intend to do on the main network.

have you sent us a copy of your config or any traces so that we can help you to diagnose this problem.

Hi,

I have been having the same problem for a while now, nobody seams to have an answer.

I have also been testing multiple registrations to Voipfone with a snom phone and it has the same problems.

I'm not sure where the problem lies, it just seams strange that the SNOM is doing the same thing when using PBX!

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

I'm a bit confused that my registrations seem to have been absolutely perfect and not lost once over the long weekend.. come this morning... obviously the traffic has picked up on the Voipfone network.. registrations started to drop....
I keep getting 'request sent'
Surely if I had a setup problem on my side it would have lost registrations over the weekend?

I tend to agree with you on that point....I originally moved all my clients over to Voipfone because I thought they were really stable, but I'm seriously thinking of finding another provider if something doesnt change soon!

I've just been looking at my Snom logs and I think it indicates that voipfone are using Asterisk server too. Is this correct??

I think that IAX should be implemented as soon as possible, as this should solve the problems.

Is there anyway we could beta test the IAX service??

I'm not sure exactly what they use.. but I have already asked them about AIX and been told they have no intention of inplimenting it at all.
If enough of us who use Asterisk request it surely they will have no choice but to consider it.
I have been complaining about the registration issues with Asterisk for a long time now and been told time and time again that it must be a problem with my setup as they have had no other complaints from their asterisk users....????
Surely we cant be the only 2 people having these problems?

I've carried out a test over the last couple of days and it would seam that when using extensions with Asterisk they seam to have problems registering.

I have tried using two standard accounts which do not contain the '*' for the extension and they seam to stay registered.

This has now raised the question that asterisk has a problem handling the asterisk in the PBX extension username.

I am continuing my test today and will post once I know more Very Happy

I am using 1 standard account not an extension on one server, with 2 standard accounts on another server also not extensions off VoipFone.
They have all 3 periodically lost registration for incoming calls. When checking the Asterisk info for those SIP sessions it just says request sent...but does not Auth. This can happen every few hours on both servers that are situated on completely different networks in completely different locations on completely different ADSL lines.
Since the unfortunate level3 crash the other day things have improved drastically!
The server with 1 direct account has not failed since the network came back up after the level3 crash.
The other server has the intermitant problem of 2 SIP accounts from the same provider, but other than that has been almost completely stable.
I have made absolutely no changes to my configurations here.
Ofcourse the implementation of IAX would hopefully sort all out problems out with regard registrations in Asterisk.
My other service providers who use IAX are 100% stable.

Ok, now one of my registrations has gone to 'Request sent' so its not got anything to do with the useranmes.

I agree IAX will be much better, as they can send the allocated numbers to our servers which can then point them to the correct locations.
