Quick question please.

I use FACB service in the U.K on my PAYG phone. Life saver at times.

My question is in respect of using mobiles abroad. Now the Voifone blurb says:

Quote:
NOTE: If you are abroad you can avoid roaming charges by buying a cheap local SIM card from the country you are visiting. Remember to enable international calling and make sure your calling ID is switched on.

Ok fair enough and clear.

Now what if I wanted to use the following PAYG Sim card

http://www.worldsim.com/Tariffs.aspx

From reading World Sim's blurb the sim has a U.K number issued. If I used this particular sim card from abroad, would (or do you think) the call to Voipfone ie 0044 208 819 81 81 fall outside of World Sim's charges, in the same way that using my own PAYG in the U.K does.

Hope I have made myself clear.

Many thanks

Can anyone help????? The Voipfone switchboard are the most ignorant and unhelpful people I have ever come across.

I am on a customer's site. I have no credit on my cell phone but I need to place an international call using my Voipfone account. I can use the client's phones, but I don't want to make an international call on their bill. I want to use my account. Problem is, the number is on a switchboard and so I can't use the callback. What I need is an access number that will allow me to call it and then connect to my destination number without calling me back.

This sort of comment does not make me want to rush to your aid. However, I'll do my best to rise above it.

Assuming your mobile can accept incoming calls without credit and that you have credit on your Voipfone account, you can use web calls here:

Thanks for getting back to me. I've sorted it now. I did it with a web call in the end.

The issue with the Voipfone switchboard staff is not new. They really aren't at all helpful. Ever. They've been told to tell people to email after 5pm, which is fair enough. But when I ask if there will be anybody answering those emails I'd kind of like a serious answer. Not "dunno"! That doesn't help anyone. I asked if they'd try the support department, just in case they hadn't gone home, but all I got was "they finish at 5pm". Again this is fair enough, but lots of people work after their official clocking off time. It really wouldn't hurt to just try the number would it? When I asked again, I was told that they "didn't have a number to try". Strange that. What do they do before the magical 5pm then? Are their memories erased at 5pm on the dot? If Voipfone offer an out of hours service, it would make sense that it's at least helpful and not rude or patronising.

So basically you were able to contact us after our free technical support service had closed and couldn't be put through because they had gone home......

You should have been told to email as there is often some poor sod like me still around. I'll sort that out.

You misunderstand. I wasn't annoyed that nobody was there. I was annoyed that the person answering the phone wouldn't say if emails would be answered or not. She wouldn't even try the support department, just in case somebody happened to be still around. Then she claimed that she didn't have a number anyway, when even a child would know that she did. It was insulting, rude and unprofessional.

I'm not having a go at the support offered. I think it's excellent, especially on the forum. My problem is with people who will not deviate one iota from the path they know and love, regardless of whether it would be helpful or not. I don't expect there to be somebody around 24/7 just in case I have a query, but if there is somebody around, and they can help, is it asking too much that they do so politely?
